Window Washing By Larry
Pricing Question From One Of Our Current Customers Back On June 9, 2011
Hi Larry - On June 9th, you provided an estimate for my residence for interior and exterior window cleaning. Thank you.
I have noted that your estimate is higher than some of your competitors and wanted to inquire as to what makes your service surpass your competitors justifying the higher estimate. Thanks!
Hi Angela - We pride ourselves on high quality work and friendly service, not lowest prices. We clean windows like someone would detail a car. On the outside we wash, scrape, wash again and squeegee the window. After the window is clean we detail the window with a detailing pad to get any hard dried debris. We also wipe all sills and frames. We use a professional window cleaning solution which leaves your windows cleaner longer - not dish soap. On the inside we cover all floors in front of the windows with tarps and towels so there is no mess on your floors. We also wear shoe coverings while inside your house. We use ladders to clean all outside windows. We do not use poles which means we are cleaning your windows nose to window not 15 feet from the ground.
Lower priced companies are forced to cut corners, rush jobs, hire inexperienced workers and many do not have insurance. We are covered with a 1 million dollar liability policy. We are a family owned and operated local company with the work being done by me the owner, my sister and helper when we need him. Given the standard of work I see from the competitors and constant complaints about "the other window cleaners" from new customers that I am confident in my pricing. Like any service or product I believe you get what you pay for. When a homeowner does not know our quality of work or how dependable we are, their decision can only be made on price so I thank you for asking questions and hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Larry - Thank you for the detailed response. I'd like to set up a time to move forward with the cleaning. Please let me know what information you need. Sundays, Mondays, or Tuesdays typically work best for us.
Thanks and look forward to doing business with you.
Our customers reply same day after cleaning

Of course, there's no way we can tell you that professional window washing is less expensive than cleaning your own windows. However, when you consider the cost of professional cleaning solutions, static-free rags, squeegees, extension poles, ladders, and other equipment you would need to get the same results as the pros, it can make the added cost of paying for window washing seem a little more understandable. Couple the equipment expenses with the amount of time you'd need to spend to finish the job, than the cost of professional window cleaning is actually quite reasonable!
Our pricing is comparable to other top quality window washing companies. Of course there will always be people offering cut-rate services, but I believe you get what you pay for. Here's some things to look for. Are they insured and bonded? How's their appearance? Are they in company uniforms? Do they have professional looking signs on their vehicles? If they haven't invested the money to look professional, then these folks are probably looking for pocket change or fun money. What exactly is their service? Do they clean window sills and frames? How do they clean your screens?
If you have a 2nd floor or transom windows, will they use ladders or poles to clean the windows? Poles don't do as good of a job. Spots are missed, no scraper is used, and excess water can't be wiped away. To do the best job, a window cleaner has to be right on top of the glass and thats how we clean. We own many different sizes and types of ladders. There usually is a higher cost (not much) for ladder work, but you will be much happier with the job.
Occasionally there will be glass or French doors inside the house which we can't see from the outside, so when calling for an estimate, please make us aware of this (if you'd like us to clean them). We obviously want your business, but we won't negotiate on price. We will, however, put together a package to fit your needs. We have customers who only want the outside done and we can also do that for you. We will do our best to meet your needs with the goal of gaining another satisfied customer.
There are some key points you should know when looking for a window cleaner
- Insurance – It's not only a good indication of a responsible business, but also likely represents someone who will provide the level of service you’re looking for. Make sure your window washer has adequate liability insurance to cover any damage to your property. You don’t want to be left footing the bill for someone elses mistake! The bottom line is, make sure you’re perspective window cleaner is insured!
- Check the level of service your window cleaner will offer – those little details matter and will only frustrate you later if they were overlooked. When your window cleaner leaves you’ll have clean glass, but has he overlooked your window sills? Does he clean your window screens when requested? If he’s cleaning your windows inside, will he wipe up any water drops? Does he cover your floors with tarps and towels? Will he wear shoe covers to protect your flooring?
You care about the environment and try to be as ‘green’ as possible – how about your window cleaner? Ask him if he uses environmentally friendly products.
- Guaranteed work - look for a window cleaner who has the confidence in their work to give you a satisfaction guarantee – let’s see if he is willing to put his money where his mouth is and back his work by re-cleaning any windows you’re not completely satisfied with. We guarantee all our work.
